Swine Flu is NOT Funny

A Bloomberg appointee to the city's Commission on Women's Issues has resigned. Betsy Perry came under fire for her controversial article about Mexico posted on the Huffington Post blog last week. Perry wrote that swine flu might be a good excuse to close the U.S. border with Mexico, as that country tried to "get a grip on its banditos and corrupt police forces." Her article prompted a slew of complaints from the Mexican American community...and the Mayor wasn't happy about it either:

Perry apologized on Huffington Post, and she did so again, in a statement issued today. She said she would resign rather than become a distraction to the mayor.
