New York, NY —While Mayor Bloomberg lobbies Albany to abolish the board of education, lawmakers seem ready to dismantle another part of the school system: The community schools boards. Created to help decentralize the vast bureacracy , these local boards are now considered ineffective and even obstructionist. In the second of a two-part series on school governance, WNYC's Beth Fertig looks at new ideas for involving parents and community leaders in the schools.
