New York, NY –
Community activists from Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn, want city council speaker Gifford Miller to step in and oppose a major rezoning plan for their neighborhoods.
Resident's rallied in front his campaign headquarters for mayor this afternoon.
CHANTING: We need space to plant our flowers. We don't want those high rise towers.
Residents say they want a plan that would ensure more affordable housing and park space that is open to the public not just those who can afford the luxury housing.
The city council must approve the plan before it's allowed to move forward. Miller's spokesman, says residents should be protesting the Mayor instead because the city council speaker agrees the rezoning plan is inadequate.
