In June, City council increased funding to public libraries in all five boroughs extending their hours to 6 days a week. Earlier this week, Brooke Astor died. The Grand Dame of New York society and philanthropy was a great patron of the city's public libraries. With libraries in the news, WNYC's Jonah Engle hit the streets and the stacks to take a closer look.
