State Official Responds to WNYC/ProPublica Investigation

A joint WNYC/ProPublica investigation has found New York State officials scrambling to prepare for an expected boom in gas drilling upstate. You may have heard Ilya Marritz' report on Morning Edition.

Our investigation found state environmental officials vouching for the safety of a drilling procedure that has been linked to water contamination and other environmental damage in some western states.

Joining us to discuss what steps Gov. David Paterson is planning to take going forward is his deputy secretary for the environment, Judith Enck. Judith, welcome back to WNYC.
