Excitement as "Hair" Readies to Open

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

The Public Theater's 40th anniversary presentation of the musical, "HAIR," opens Thursday night, but it's already creating quite a buzz. The line for tonight's preview performance was five blocks long. Dan O'Brian was near the end of that line, but he didn't want to leave, even though he didn't think he'd score tickets.

O'BRIEN: I was stupid and thought if I got here an hour before 1:00 I would be able to get tickets. So, here it is, an hour later and I don't think I'll be getting anything. So you live and learn]

HOST: HAIR has been in previews since mid-July, and many people line up before daybreak for the tickets, which are handed out at 1 p.m. Hair runs through August 31.
