New York, NY –
New York's Republican delegates may be in St. Paul to support Sen. John McCain for president, but Albany politics are still on their minds. Long Island Congressman Peter King addressed the group yesterday saying they should use this convention to brainstorm ways to revamp the state's GOP. King suggested reaching out to younger volunteers, like Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans.
KING: Bring in people who were so concerned what happened on Sept. 11 and never want to see it happen again. And have them involved in the campaign for John McCain, and obviously it will make a big difference in this campaign, but also we can use them as future foot soldiers and leaders in our party, as we rebuild the party state wide.
REPORTER: Republicans currently hold a narrow majority in the New York State Senate.
