Brooklyn Hate Crime Denounced

New York City leaders are denouncing an attack on two Ecuadorian brothers

Monday, December 08, 2008

Bronx Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo is urging the public to help police find the attackers.

ARROYO: This crime is not against one individual. It's a crime against a community of people that are working hard to make a big contribution to this society.

REPORTER: Authorities say one of the four attackers made anti-gay comments before hitting one of the brothers over the head with a bottle.

That man is in the hospital in critical condition. The other brother escaped. Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
