Senior Citizens React to President Obama

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

More than 100 seniors in Fort Greene, Brooklyn have been enjoying a full day of inaugural festivities at the Grace Agarad Center.

They gathered in the red, white and blue decorated hall to watch and cheer the swearing in of Barack Obama as the 44th president.

Betty Perry says it'll take awhile for her "high" to dissolve after seeing an African American become commander in chief.

PERRY: I'm still on high and I just feel like I'm still up dreaming because I am 77 years old, I'm from the south and i went through so much -when they mentioned that word about picking cotton - I know about all of that.

REPORTER: The seniors at the center also enjoyed a lunch of chicken, rice and vegetables and R&B music spun by a local D-J.
