Supporters Join NYU Protesters

Friday, February 20, 2009

City residents and college students came out to support the protesters who barricaded themselves in an NYU cafeteria Wednesday night and emerged today. Their demands ranged from public disclosure of university records and funding, to affordable student housing. NYU freshman David Seword joined the dozens of supporters this afternoon outside the university's student center. Like many protesters, he's concerned about how NYU is using his tuition fees.

SEWORD: I actually don't know where my money's going and I feel responsible to only give my dollars to places that I am inline with.

NYU released a statement claiming the barricaded students rejected their offer for dialogue and are suspended for trespassing.
