68 Hours Inside the Taj Hotel

Friday, January 10, 2014

Journalist Adrian Levy gives a definitive account of the siege the Taj Hotel in Mumbai in November of 2008. His book The Siege: 68 Hours Inside the Taj Hotel, written with Cathy Scott-Clark, tells what happened when Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists attacked targets throughout the Mumbai, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Hundreds were held hostage as a fire raged and gunfire rang out. When the smoke cleared, 68-hours later, 31 people were dead and many more were injured.

While Joan Rivers might be a very humorous woman, as JR from NYC says, she is NOT the right person for this serious topic!

This was a terrible interview! Couldn't the Leopnard Lopate Show have gotten someone else???

Joan Rivers may be an accomplished comedian, but she's a lame interviewer. Why would you ever have her host a conversation about the Taj Hotel shooting? What could she possibly bring to this conversation. Terrible show.

The Aurora Colorado Theater was a Gun-Free Zone. The "No Guns" signs deterred all, except the mass murderer, from being armed.
Taj Hotel in Mumbai in November of 2008, was a Gun-Free Zone.
The Texas Restaurant, where Suzanna Gratia-Hupp watched her parents and 21 others executed, while her gun sat, as required by law, in her car, was a gun-free zone.
Virginia Tech; The Empire State Building; The Flights of 9/11, even Fort Hood - - all Gun-Free Zones.
Hitler's Germany, for all but government Nazis, was a gun-free zone.
Parts of the South were gun free zones; But only for slaves.
East Timore was a gun-free zone. And was helpless to resist Suharto's invasion, and 25 years of Indonesian genocide.
The death toll of gun-free zones: Thousands, Millions, and it accrues,
Massacres at shooting ranges, gun shows: none. But that's not news.

At the end of 68 hours, 166 were dead and dozens more critically injured.

The average number of people killed in mass shootings, when stopped by police, is 14.29 dead.
The average number of people killed in a mass shooting, when stopped by a citizen, is 2.33 dead.
The average number of people killed in a mass shooting, when stopped by an unarmed citizen is 2.6 dead.
The average number of people killed in a mass shooting, when stopped by a citizen with a gun is 1.8.

So the best way to prevent mass shootings with many dead, is to enable armed citizens to be in most crowds.
This is best accomplished by allowing the law-abiding to carry guns.

I love you Joan!
Don't pay attention to what the stupid haters say. They obviously don't understand your humor.
Wish my mother, who happens to be 10 years younger, had half of your vitality and energy. I admire your intelligence too.
Keep it up!
ps: I might just get cable again so I can watch FP...
