It's that time of the month again for the new releases show on New Sounds. John Schaefer carefully sorts through the stacks, bins, and boatloads of new CDs which have come across his desk over the past month to present some of the finest new releases. What we can see from here includes a new record by Hungarian singer Márta Sebestyén, some West African drumming and singing with electronics from new music drummer Lukas Ligeti's Burkina Electric, some film music from Youssou N'Dour, and guitar and kora artistry from Ali Farka Toure and Toumani Diabate. Plus, music by Seattle's Balkan horn party band Orkestar Zirkonium, a one-man ambient band that calls itself A Broken Consort, and an arrangement of John Cage by Brooklyn Rider.
