Sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan (1922-2009)

Friday, June 19, 2009

The late great classical Indian sarod master Ali Akbar Khan came to the U.S.A. in the 1950's, influenced a generation of musicians and had a huge impact on the sound of rock and jazz in the 1960's. (He was also the brother-in-law of Ravi Shankar.) To mark Ali Akbar Khan's passing, we revisit a show from June of 1991, where Khan Sahib talked us through some of the different recordings he had made during his long and illustrious career.
