For this New Sounds, we'll take a look at the Irish new music scene, with composers Daniel Figgis and Roger Doyle. Doyle is a former jazz-rock drummer, and writes electro-acoustic and electronic music. Your show has introduced me to some amazing music over the years, but in March you surpassed yourself when you played a couple of jazz tracks from the Neil Cowley Trio's album Displaced. The music excited me so much that I HAD to have that album – YESTERDAY. I managed to get it, with some difficulty, through the Trio’s website. The whole album has the same exhilarating impact on me.

So you can imagine how thrilled I was to find that the Neil Cowley Trio is playing in Joe’s Pub in New York on 16th June!!! I got tickets, and there are still some left so I urge you not to miss this wonderful jazz band and their energetic music. They are also playing at the Rochester Jazz Festival on 14th June, but that’s a bit far for this (transplanted from Dublin) Greenwich Village gal.
