The live New Sounds Concert series continues with performances by two engaging ensembles: The Turtle Island String Quartet looks like a classical ensemble, but their music includes strong elements of jazz, bluegrass and ethnic styles and ultimately ends up sounding like none of these. The Mark Kirkostas Qintet (piano, flute, bass, and Near Eastern percussion) combines traditional Arabic, Greek and Armenian music with Western classical and jazz.
