« previous episode | next episode »

Friday, October 16, 1987

The eclectic and original producer/curator Hal Willner is the subject of this New Sounds program. His take on contemporary music includes wildly ambitious concept albums that run the gamut from pop to jazz to the avant-garde. We'll sample from a few of these, like "Lost in the Stars," arrangements of Kurt Weill tunes, and arrangements of Thelonius Monk tunes from "That's the Way I feel Now." Plus selections from "Amarcord Nino Rota."
News, weather, Radiolab, Brian Lehrer and more.
