Soundtracks and Soundscapes

« previous episode | next episode »

Sunday, October 24, 2004

Soundtracks and Soundscapes are the subject of this installment of New Sounds. Composer Carter Burwell recently teamed up with director Spike Jonze and writer Charlie Kaufman, to score the film Adaptation. The results are striking, as in cuts like "The Evolution of Evolution," which features kalimba, steel drums and sly bass licks. And we hear Boston's Alloy Orchestra in selections from their releases "Silents" and "New Music for Silent Films." Rounding out the program is music by John Luther Adams and Peter Garland.
