Tonight's New Sounds offers music performed using everything including the kitchen sink. This includes selections by Music For Homemade Instruments, an ensemble of classically trained musicians who invent, build, compose for, and perform on musical instruments built from trash and found objects. Their collection of over 250 instruments encompasses peanut butter jars, table leg marimbas, cigar humidor pan pipes, fork windchimes, propane gas container bells, tennis racket harps, and the "Boweryphone" (tuned pint wine bottles). Other instrument-builder/performers featured include Peter Whitehead, Ken Butler, Hans Reichel (inventor of the daxophone), and the Robert Minden Ensemble.
