Program #1973 : With William Duckworth

« previous episode | next episode »

Sunday, September 28, 2003

Composer William Duckworth stops by the studio to discuss his enormous web-based, 5-year composition called “Cathedral.” This mammoth project was constructed around a collection of five mystical moments in time; the building of the Great Pyramid, the building of the cathedral at Chartres, the founding of the Ghost Dance religion of Native Americans in the late 19th century, the building of the atomic bomb, and the founding of the world wide web. On this edition of New Sounds, we’ll hear excerpts from “Cathedral” featuring his virtual instruments and live ensemble recordings.
