A diverse array of songs for voice and strings are featured on this edition of New Sounds. We hear "One Body," the chamber cantata for countertenor, string quartet, and percussion, written for and sung by the remarkable New York-based singer Bruce Rameker, texts by Walt Whitman, Kenneth Patchen, Joy Harjo, Gary Snyder, and others. Plus, "Butterfly Song," an otherworldly, ethereal song by Jocelyn Pook, Donna McKevitt's "Sebastiane," and Gavin Bryars's "Vita Nova."
