CBS Television has been in the news this week, first with its 75th anniversary, and then with its cancellation of the controversial mini-series “The Reagans,” creating a storm on the left and right. This makes it a good moment, says Sara Fishko, to look back at television in another touchy political time. Two programs on the CBS of more than three decades ago were creating storms of their own.
