Unreported Immigrant Deaths

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

New York Times reporter Nina Bernstein discusses deaths in immigration jails, which for years have gone uncounted and unnamed in the public record. She looks into why so little is reported by officials about who these people were and how they died. You can read Nina Bernstein's article "Officials Hid Truth of Immigrant Deaths in Jail" here.

Can your guest talk about ISAP, which is a Department of Homeland Security program in which immigrants subject to removal proceedings are fitted with radio frequency (RF) and GPS monitoring ankle bracelets?

Your guest failed to address
the question of right to an attorney.
There is one but to no expense to the gov.
In other words, not really.
Imm. is Quasi-crim. And thus
the constitution does not fully apply.
Tks.

Why was this article in the Style Magazine rather than
the Sunday Magazine? Many people, including me, do
not expect to find anything of substance in a fashion rag.
It should have been in the Sunday issue, which more people read for serious stories. I threw out the Style
section but will now read the article on line. In the future, I will check to see if the Style section contains more than just boring fashion news.

As long as we're talking about democrats losing power, I can't believe a president with an immigrant background (like much of his constituents, including me) there wasn't any kind of improvement on this. He even made it a point to say immigration would have to wait. It's got to be (outside of extraordinary rendition) one of the uglier undersides to the country right now.

Another ivory tower liberal's misguided misinterpretation of the facts.
