Merce Cunningham had many fans – including many dancers – who raved about the avant-garde dancer and choreographer because of the way he revolutionized modern dance, creating works of pure movement – divorced from not only storytelling, but musical accompaniment. David VaughnViola Farber and Kimberly Bartosik discussed Cunningham's work with Leonard Lopate in December, 1997.
