we look at why the economic downturn has resulted in an increase in violence against Europe’s Roma, particularly in Italy, where the government has passed more restrictive policies regarding the Roma. Joining us to describe the violence against Roma communities are Isabela Minalache,
senior program manager for Roma Initiatives at the Open Society Institute, and James Goldston,
an expert on Roma issues and the executive director of the Open Society Justice Initiative.
