Washington DC – and its 3 electoral votes – is expected to go for Barack Obama. We find out why and look at some of the District’s major issues, including crime, taxes, and schools. David Nakamura is Washington Post DC City Government Reporter.

States of the Union fact of the week: The District of Columbia and the city of Washington are not actually the same entity, even though they are run by the same government and are usually considered to be the same thing.
