Don't know if this is her book store or not, but I well remember driving back to St. Paul from Minneapolis one weekday night in 1998, a little after 10 PM, and seeing a large (could have been 800 sq. ft.), well-lit used book store, still open. Not only that, there were plenty of people in it, browsing, reading, etc.

Damn! I thought, NYC doesn't have a store like that.

NYers are way over the top about their bookstores. There are _lots_ of great ones in the heartland--even in the much-denigrated Southern Calif.

My fave recently, Duvall Books, was found on a one-street town in Duvall, WA.
