Anthony Shadid of the Washington Post is a Lebanese American journalist who is fluent in Arabic. He was therefore able to go under cover in Iraq and get a very different perspective on the war than most embedded journalists. He tells us what he learned from his conversations with ordinary Iraqi citizens in Night Draws Near: Iraq's People in the Shadow of America's War.
