Wage Gaps

Avis Jones-DeWeever, the Poverty, Welfare, and Income Security Study Director for the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, gives us an update on the earning gap between men and women, and how race further widens wage discrepancies. Women earn 76 cents for every dollar earned by the average American man. But African American women earn only 66 cents on the dollar, and Hispanic women earn 55 cents on the dollar.
