For ten years now, the ensemble known as Imani Winds has been enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire with European, American, African and Latin American traditions. We hear a selection from their album The Classical Underground.

The Classical Underground

The Imani Winds followed up their first (self-produced) album with this Grammy-nominated release from Koch records in 2005. The entire disc features music that had never been recorded by a woodwind quintet; we hear Jeff Scott's arrangement of Astor Piazzola's energetic "Libertango."
