Taqwacore: Religion and Music Mix

Taqwacore is the name for hardcore Muslim punk. Based initially on a 2003 novel by Michael Muhammed Knight, "The Taqwacores," the concept has become something of an underground movement in the U.S. But are the tenets of Islam (or, really, any religion) mutually exclusive from the tenets of punk rock?

Joining us are Omar Majeed, director of the new documentary "Taqwacore, The Birth of Punk Islam" and Shahjehan Khan, one of the two guitarists of The Kominas, a taqwacore band based in Boston.
