Hear music from the Montreal-based cellist, climate activist and organizer Rebecca Foon, operating as her one-woman band, Saltland. (She’s also part of Esmerine, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, Set Fire To Flames.) Her second record, A Common Truth is an intense meditation about climate change and attempts to musically translate complex strands of optimism and despair, resolve and resignation when it comes to the hope of the planet.  She layers multiple loops of her cello, atop a rich set of drones, live in the studio.

Also, hear music from the Montreal-based Esmerine, a chamber rock band which includes the likes of Sarah Neufeld (of Arcade Fire), members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, a quartet of Turkish musicians, and Rebecca Foon. Plus, some music from Montreal-based duo of unbelievable sax player Colin Stetson and the violin acrobatics of Sarah Neufeld.
