Then, listen to an alternate score for the classic 1972 Andrei Tarkovsky sci-fi film, “Solaris” in music inspired by the film from Ben Frost & Icelandic conductor/arranger/composer Daníel Bjarnason.
There’s also music by a unique band, founded by pianist Francois Couturier, calling itself the Tarkovsky Quartet. Their music is an inspired combination of piano, cello, soprano saxophone, and accordion. The quartet claims the films of Andrey Tarkovsky as part of their ever-expanding frame of reference, which includes group improvisations, as well as compositions of Bach & Shostakovich.
