Listen to works inspired by the natural world like birds and insects to overwhelmingly larger ecologically-minded works on the scale of oceans. Plus, there’s music conceived of while considering astronaut Scott Kelly observing the Earth from space, as well as things that are too tiny or too cosmic to see, like dark matter and viruses.

Listen to an arrangement of a Björk song for orchestra and soprano featuring Renée Fleming, along with another work, “Dark Matter” from Björk’s record, Biophilia. Then, hear music from Canadian composer, Tawnie Olsen, listen to music for percussionist Ian David Rosenbaum inspired by the western meadowlark. Olsen sampled the bird song, electronically stretched it, then transcribed it for marimba. Also, there’s a portion of one of the waves of John Luther Adams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning work, “Become Ocean.”

Hear music from harpist Mary Lattimore, which takes into account the things that astronaut Scott Kelly observed – his #spaceflower, an orange zinnia, aerial shots of the zigzagging great rivers, a moon rise, and an aurora borealis- while in extreme solitude living for a year aboard the International Space Station. Plus, hear new music from the duo, On Fillmore (percussionist/composer Glenn Kotche and bassist Darin Gray), created in Brazil, about crickets and caves. And more.
