Live From WNYC: Vieux Farka Touré

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Vieux Farka Touré performs a new song live on Soundcheck.

The late guitarist Ali Farka Touré was probably the most famous musician in Mali, but when it came time for his son, Vieux, to chose a career, Ali advised him to join the military. After a year in the army, Vieux convinced his dad to allow him to go into music, too. Now Vieux is releasing his second album and preparing to perform live for the opening of the World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa.
