A not-for-profit media organization supported by people like you.
New York State Senator Bill Perkins (D-30th, Harlem) discusses tomorrow's hearings on the finances of charter schools.
MCMii private schools like the one i worked at and like Collegiate School that perkins when to are non-profits
@hjs - so you're saying no private schools make profits? It is similar.
MCMii--"taking a subsidized private school education" is not the same as a for profit charter school.
You know - throwing money at education is an easy way out.
Listen to that ad - it immediately aligns (without giving reasons why) charter schools w/ "common sense."
Then - it immediately says (again without argument) that charter schools are going to increase accountability to teachers.
They don't say how, or back it up in anyway.
Holding that amount of money over anyone's head is going to do what it is doing now - try to eliminate dissent or debate (like this Senator is trying to provide).
How can such an inarticulate politician be in a leadership position?
He didn't really address him being a hypocrite, taking a subsidized private school education, while now trying to denying a similar education to others.
He just rambled about how he did this or that, but never answered your question.
How much is the teachers union promising his re-election campaign? So much dis-information is put out by the UFT. The grades the kids get is the proof of the pudding! I have 3 kids in the under funded Renasense Charter in Jackson Hts.
For years the NYCDOE allowed schools in District 5 (Harlem) to languish and chose not to deal with the local politics and clean house.
Perkins may (or may not) be putting the interests of politicos first.
Read Diane Ravitch's new book on Charter Schools and Accountability.
Eva Moskowitz pays herself handsomely!
Another example of black leadership, defeating progress for black youth. Charter School educate the kids, public non charter schools are zoo's.. These schools work for black youth.
Another buffoon leading african american's.
What kind of schools did all of Senator Perkins children attend?
