I was in Burma a month after the October '07 protests and then again early 2009. Fantastic country and culture. Its run by gangsters and has been in turmoil continuiously from its colonial days, thru WW2 continuing right to today. Westerners should go there because the travel benefits everyone (provided you avoid the government hotels & travel agencies).
