Idiots, I live in chicago and one of the best reasons i can think of for living in ny or the east coast is less painful winter. The weather in the midwest including chicago is absolute suck. Those that scoff and proclaim their imperviousness or disappointment should be shipped to the arctic and kept there or maybe they should be kept on some Caribbean island

Pet peeve - please don't shovel your snow right into the middle of the road. Dangerous for driving.

i just came back to nyc from down south on sunday and all of I-95 from richmond to baltimore, including the DC beltway was completely neglected and had a 6 inch layer of ice and tons of snow-made it almost impossible to drive, tons of accidents. soon as we got to baltimore the roads were fine, plowed, salted and clear. my point is that once again, i see how great my city is-NYC!!!!
i live along the belt pkwy and they were plowing constantly for the past 2 days, salting, hitting all the secondary, tertiary roads. i can't believe how dysfunctional the DC area is...the capital of the most powerful nation on the planet- pathetic!!!

Brian,

We're in Howell, NJ, which is pretty far south... Very hard to tell the total snowfall for this last storm, as it piled on top of another foot that we'd already had.Another foot? The kids are loving it...
Please remind your listeners to clear off any fire hydrants! Unfortunately, our neighbors had a fire two hours ago and lost their home; fortunately, neighbors knew where the hydrants were and cleared them before the fire fighters got there.

Best,

I got about 15 inches on top of my car in Bellport, Long Island. Icy, wet snow. Murder to shovel.

To all of you Gothamites disappointed by yesterday's shortcomings: don't feel too bad; even up here in the Northern Taconics boonies, there was a lot of anticipation, but barely enough white stuff to give a fresh coating to the hillsides. I tried to get a refund from NOAA, but they hung up on me.
On the bright side: we don't get the slush here and it stay clean longer.
