While the American public focuses its gaze on the international crisis brewing in Syria, another crisis is brewing on Capitol Hill.

In just a few short weeks, the current fiscal year ends. And for now, there is no consensus on how government operations will be funded after September 30.

Part of the hold up has to do with Republican opposition to President Barack Obama’s new health care law, which fully takes effect on October 1st. GOP lawmakers are refusing to pass any spending bill that keeps funding for the Affordable Care Act intact.
