Disney's re-releasing The Little Mermaid, with a twist: they're encouraging audiences to bring along their iPads for a second-screen experience.
While it's tempting to see this as a sign of the apocalypse, I'm not entirely sure it is If you watch the trailer, Disney's pitching this as a sort of midnight-movie-at-a-matinee-screening-time: The Rocky Horror Picture Show or The Room, but for six to ten-year-olds. It's not supposed to replace the experience of watching a film in a state of hushed awe.
That said, I can not imagine a place I'd less like to be then a movie theater filled with young children with iPads. Holy crow.
