The Secrets of Lost Cats

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

For every lost cat poster, there’s a story of heartbreak and loss and, one hopes, reunion and relief. When her orange tabby, Zak, disappeared, Nancy Davidson did made a lost cat poster, and, after days of frantic searching, she found him. The experience made her acutely aware of lost cat posters, and she writes about them and the stories behind them in The Secrets of Lost Cats: One Woman, Twenty Posters, and a New Understanding of Love.

The woman is a psychotherapist, a writer, and a cat lover. She called the numbers on the lost cat posters to learn more about the cat's disappearance, not to be cruel. In most cases--if you've read the book--she ends up helping these owners profoundly.

Such paradoxical creatures, cats, aren't they?

So cuddly and adorable, yet so vicious and sadistic.

this interview HAS to go into Lenny's greatest hits interviews -- right after the notorious Jerry Lewis chat.

If owners were more responsible, then cats wouldn't get lost! Keep your cats securely IN YOUR HOUSE. That said, cats are supreme escape artists, and my own cat is exactly that.

Why not address the core issue? And what medication is this speaker on? Keep you cat inside, and get your cat fixed. Cats who roam was usually looking for mates.

Calling the number on a Lost Cat Poster for any reason other than to report a sighting or otherwise offer assistance seems like a somewhat cruel pastime.

Should this be taken as encouragement for micro-chipping one's pets?
