Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan and Newark Mayor Cory Booker, candidates in the special election to fill New Jersey's vacant US Senate seat.

The expected low turnout led to the expected results in yesterday's primary election: Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) will face Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan (R) in the special election to fill US Senator Frank Lautenberg's seat. Nancy Solomon, New Jersey Public Radio's managing editor, discusses the results and the general election showdown ahead.

NJ used to have a liberal Republican Party. Now it seems to have (at least in DINO Booker) a conservative Democratic Party. You can see this from the pro-business Dem Senate candidate to the Governor trying to dismantle the equilibrium in the state Supreme Court (another good topic for the BL show).

Corey Booker, Senator For Life. He's only 44 so he should be voting for school privatization and Wall Street tax breaks well into the 2050s, yay for democracy...

Success in Congress requires a far different skill set than being mayor.
Booker is too much of a 'look at me' guy than a team player. My opinion, and it only my opinion, he won't succeed much in D.C.

IMO, Corey is relying on the optics of a Clinton/Booker ticket but (again my opinion) that ain't gonna happen. Clinton - like Obama - will pick an older white guy.

If NJ voters wanted a senator that would get things done, they should have gone with Holt or Pallone.

Cory Booker such a "moderate"?

There's nothing moderate about capitulating to a radical agenda that seeks to normalize degeneracy, depravity and debauchery and allowing it to triumph over public health and decency.

A Democrat v a Teapartier? Booker should be a no-brainer. After all, he's replacing a Democrat in a state that has put nothing but Democrats in the Senate for decades. I say we throw a Lonegan effigy into Boston Harbor and be done with it.

Booker has no real vision for leadership that I can see. Unless "Can't we all get along" counts as leadership plan.

All Cory won was consideration as the VP running mate in 2016. Does VP really count as a goal?

If Corey DOES get the VP nod, NJ voters will be doing this all over again. Hopefully, whoever the governor is won't blow another $12M on a special cycle.
