It has been years since the first warnings against colorless, odorless, tasteless “date rape” drugs came into public consciousnesses.

But these dangerous drugs are still showing up in bars, restaurants, at parties, and on college campuses, rendering victims physically helpless and unable to remember what happened to them.

After being drugged himself, one man is trying to put a stop to them. His company, DrinkSavvy, is marketing cups and straws that detect date rape drugs. When date rape drug is introduced into a beverage, the cup and/or straw changes color to alert the drinker.

The creator—Boston Inventor Michael Abramson—joins us to discuss his invention.
