In July, Economy Added 162,000 Jobs, Unemployment Ticks Down to 7.4%

So far, 2013 has proved a strong year in terms of the economic recovery, with the economy steadily adding just around 200,000 jobs each month.

Today’s much-anticipated monthly jobs report continued that streak.

Economists had estimated the U.S. would add 183,000 jobs in July. They also predicted that unemployment would dip slightly, to 7.5 percent.

In reality the economy added 162,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate ticked down to 7.4 percent.
