Financial advisors say budgeting is essential to achieving financial prosperity. Yet only 1 in 3 Americans have a detailed budget, according to a recent poll. Host Michel Martin speaks with finance expert Louis Barajas for tips on how to build a budget that actually works.

Okay I have a question for everyone... Have you tried tracking your every expense for a month? Doing so has helped me a ton.... I have been using YNAB to help me and it amazes me how much more I pay attention to where I use my money....

Most people now days have an Iphone... how would you like to pump gas or pay for groceries and turn around punch a few little pieces of information into your phone and have your budget and check register up to date in less that 30 seconds? I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IT.....
