Two polls are showing former Rep. Anthony Weiner gaining ground among the city's Democrats in his bid for the party nomination in the New York City mayoral race.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday showed an uptick in his support. He garnered 17 percent support among those surveyed, behind City Council Speaker Christine Quinn's 19 percent and just ahead of ex-Comptroller Bill Thompson's 16 percent. A Quinnipiac poll in May had Quinn at 25 percent, Weiner at 15 percent and Thompson at 10 percent.
On Tuesday, a Wall Street Journal-NBC New York-Marist survey showed Weiner pulling ahead of Quinn by 5 points.
