A High School Student Body That Represents 45 Countries

Brooke Hauser, a journalist and author, follows a year at a Brooklyn high school for new arrivals in her book, The New Kids: Big Dreams and Brave Journeys at a High School for Immigrant Teens. She tells the WNYC Host Brian Lehrer that the students —new immigrants, and often refugees — represent 45 countries. One of the students calls the show and shares her story.
