Queens School Aide Arrested in Sexual Abuse Case

Here we go again: A school aide in Queens was arrested Thursday on charges of sexually abusing a student younger than 11 years old, the police said, becoming the fifth city school worker charged in the last few weeks with sexual crimes against children.

The aide, Brett Picou, 30, taught at Public School 52 in Springfield Gardens, and he was charged with repeated sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child, the police said. No details were immediately available on the child’s age or sex.

Last week, after the arrest of a teacher’s aide at an Upper West Side elementary school on charges that he sexually abused an 8-year-old student, the schools chancellor, Dennis M. Walcott, ordered a review of all substantiated cases of misconduct since 2000.
