John Hodgman shares his survival guide to the Mayan apocalypse, or as he calls it "Ragnarok.” His post-apocalyptic necessities include beef jerky dollars, sperm whales, and mayonnaise,  His new comedy special “John Hodgman: Ragnarok,”  is streaming exclusively on Netflix.

This guy is so annoying and unfunny. Who signs him up for book deals and that idiotic column in the NY Times Magazine?

Ho-hum. NPR is so relentlessly anti-New Age, with Lopate and guests no exception. There is apparently no shortage of glib, nonchalant types who can be called out of the woodwork to fight the forces of ignorance as knights in shining rational armour - without trying to understand or genuinely engage with any spiritual paths or traditions. But (big secret!) - it's easy to debunk what you actually don't understand to begin with.
