Tragedy Strikes Another Garment Factory in Bangladesh

As the grim count of the dead continues to rise from that garment factory collapse last month in Bangladesh, a fire overnight in a different garment factory there killed at least 8 more people. Between the building collapse and fire, more than 900 workers have perished in tragedies that have made Bangladesh very uneasy about its recent economic successes.

The growth in manufacturing in Bangladesh over the past decade has changed the society and underscored real weaknesses in government institutions and regulations. What voices will emerge to ensure this will never again?

One of those voices is Muhammad Yunus. He is an economist, founder of the Grameen Bank, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
