Fortune 500 Features 52 New York Companies

Fifty-two New York companies including JPMorgan Chase, McGraw-Hill and Estée Lauder are part of this year's Fortune 500.

The list from Fortune magazine ranks the largest American corporations by revenue. California had the biggest share with 54 companies. New York and Texas tied for second with 52 apiece.

Walmart reclaimed the top spot this year, swapping positions with last year's number one, Exxon Mobil. The Arkansas-based retailer brought in $469.2 billion in 2012.

Verizon was the biggest company in New York, earning just under $116 billion. 

Others in the state to make the list include banks like Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, insurance companies like AIG and MetLife, as well as businesses from advertising, media, and pharmaceuticals.

#26 – Citigroup

#38 – American International Group

#39 – INTL FCStone

#40 – MetLife

#43 – PepsiCo

#48 – Pfizer

#68 – Goldman Sachs Group
